Harrison County's nine elementary Title I public schools have designed unique programs based upon unique school needs assessments. Title 1, an instructional program, helps qualifying elementary school students with basic skills and higher order thinking skills. This program benefits students through additional instruction by Title 1 teachers who have been trained in remedial techniques. These teachers offer their students opportunities to progress in basic and advanced skills, and recognize individual progress and good work habits. Harrison County Schools notifies parents of their right to request information on their children’s teacher’s qualifications: Meeting state certification requirements for grade level and subject taught; whether teaching via provisional waiver or emergency permit; degree major and graduate certification and the field discipline.
